This patch adds improvements and changes to the AI including difficulty select and AI adaptive behavior. There are also a number of minor feature updates and bug fixes which may not all be detailed here.
Adaptive AI & AI Difficulty
The bots in Evolver are governed by a state engine which includes several stats such as aggression, defense, and focus. Based on these stats and the opponent player's behaviors, the bot will make decisions in neutral, one oki, and more. While most of this infrastructure already existed, the bot will now adjust it's attitude scores to compensate for losses and switch up its decision making throughout the round based on whether it's winning or losing.
When selecting The Underground (Arcade Mode) or Versus AI mode, you will now be prompted to select a difficulty for the AI; this determines the number of skill points the bot has to allocate to it's personality traits. As such, selecting the difficulty of the AI does not directly determine the personality of each individual AI fighter.
Ranked Ghost Fighters
There's a ghost in the shell! When queuing up for ranked, if there are not human players available, AI ghost players will join your session to battle you. This will enable players to gain ranked rewards as well as improve their skill level and Victory Rating for when other players are online and available. This change does not affect custom lobbies where a room number is required for participants to join.
